Latest Updates from Our Project:

Backerkit Surveys Incoming
7 months ago – Thu, Jan 15, 2026 at 04:48:16 PM

After working out a few kinks, we've begun the process of sending out surveys via Backerkit. Right now we're in the midst of the "smoke test," which dispatches surveys to 5% of our backers, just to make sure everything's running smoothly. If all goes well (so far so good!), we'll send out the rest tomorrow.

So please keep your eyes out for those surveys. Once we have your email addresses collected via Backerkit, we can start distributing PDFs of existing publications (The Valley of Flowers, Dethroners, Psychographia, etc.) to those who backed for them or selected them as add-ons.

And if you run into any problems, please let us know!

A Peek into the Scrying Bowl
9 months ago – Tue, Dec 02, 2025 at 06:30:08 AM

We’ve been hard at work on all things Wildendrem, and today we’re writing with an update on our planned schedule for the weeks ahead. We may need to make adjustments as we go, but we want to answer the most common questions we’ve received so far.

Pledge Manager & PDFs

We’ll be using Backerkit for our pledge manager. We want to get already completed digital rewards (including PDFs of The Valley of Flowers) to backers as soon as possible, and that means collecting info through the pledge manager. PDFs will be distributed through DriveThruRPG when possible (everything except some third party add-ons).

We plan to have surveys ready in the next two weeks. We’ll update again when those are about to go out.

The Wildendrem Codex

We’re focusing most our work on this book right now, as it’s the nearest to completion. If all goes as planned, we’ll distribute PDFs of the Codex to all backers in March. Print copies will ship with the other physical rewards.

Going Forward

You can expect progress updates from us about once per month, and of course we’ll keep you apprised of any major developments. Thank you again for being part of this—we’re really excited about what we’ve been cooking up, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Thank you—and now onward!

It's been an amazing campaign, and we're grateful to all of you for being part of it. With over 1000 backers (!) and every stretch goal unlocked, we'll be able to create the best possible versions of these books.

In the weeks ahead, we'll be in touch about the pledge manager, timelines, etc. But for the moment we just want to express our gratitude for your support. Sincerely, THANK YOU for making this possible.

Here's another project we're excited about: Loin du feu is a fantasy grimoire using the Fate system to explore the rugged paths of a dark, magical France. It's a project made entirely by women, and the art and design look absolutely gorgeous. Check it out!

Conversion Kits Unlocked!
10 months ago – Wed, Nov 05, 2025 at 08:13:07 AM

Holy moly! We're beyond pleased that we've unlocked our final stretch goal, which means it will be easier than ever to explore Wildendrem using the system of your choice. The thing we're most excited about is the opportunity to work with Will and Michael, who are both Wildendrem experts and tremendous designers in their own right. To celebrate, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite work from these two vets.

Will Jobst is a game designer who publishes under Good Luck Press, and they have a catalog of fabulous games that's too long to list here. Their published work as well as their thinking about games has been tremendously influential to me as a designer and player of games. One of my personal faves is Black Mass, an experimental horror game that incorporates tarot, personas, and some of the most evocative writing I've encountered in RPGs. I also want to shout out the upcoming Plasmodics, which takes Will's wild sensibilities and situates them in an old-school-adjacent context to fantastic effect.

Michael Putlack, under Night Noon Games, has been publishing both excellent Shadowdark material and original TTRPGs. My favorite of his Shadowdark supplements is Creating & Adapting Monsters for Use in Shadowdark RPG, which shows a deep love for and understanding of the things that make Shadowdark a special game. My favorite of his original RPGs is Be Kind. Rewind, a thoughtful and compelling journalling game that tackles nostalgia and the deep personal connection we can form with cinema.

As you can tell, we're deeply psyched to work with these two. So, what's next? While we don't have any more official stretch goals, rest assured that any additional funds will continue to be invested in making the books as rich, beautiful, and useful as possible--this means more art, more writing, and more Wildendrem to explore!

Character Sheets Unlocked, One Stretch Goal Left!
10 months ago – Mon, Oct 27, 2025 at 09:23:31 AM

And there’s another stretch goal down. Having those character sheets from Alderdoodle is going to be amazing. I’m certain we’ll be using them in our home games :)

That leaves us with just one goal remaining: conversion kits for Mythic Bastionland and Shadowdark. For this we’re turning to two excellent writers who have already dived deep into the cross-currents of these systems and the Wildendrem setting.

Mythic Bastionland

Mythic Bastionland RPG

We're longtime fans of Chris McDowall's work, and ever since we first heard of Mythic Bastionland, we've hoped these two worlds could hang together. The Wildendrem books being statted for Cairn means there’s already some compatibility, and of course both works are steeped in the strangeness and wonder of Arthurian legend.

Will Jobst of Good Luck Press is currently running a Mythic Bastionland / Valley of Flowers campaign, and from what we’ve heard, that matchup is going very well indeed. We'd love to bring Will in to show us how it's done!

Shadowdark

Shadowdark RPG

And how cool would this be?

Michael Putlack of Night Noon Games ran a campaign spanning thirty-one sessions (CORRECTION: FORTY-ONE SESSIONS!) of The Valley of Flowers using Shadowdark, and it sounds like it was an amazing time. We’d love to welcome Shadowdark players into Wildendrem, so naturally we thought of Michael as the perfect guide.

Help Us Spread the Word?

If we reach 60k before the end of this campaign, we can hire Will and Michael to create these conversion kits (PDFs will be distributed to all backers). We really are going to have to stretch for this, and we’re grateful for any help spreading the word. Know folks who are playing Mythic Bastionland or Shadowdark, and who might enjoy the mythic weirdness of Wildendrem? Please let them know!

Wildendrem co-creator Jedediah Berry will soon be on tour in Italy for his latest novel, The Naming Song (La Canzone dei nomi). Any European backers planning to be at the Lucca Comics & Games Festival? If so, please say hello!

He also has appearances scheduled for Bologna (November 3rd) and Rome (November 4th). Full details on the Fazi Editore publisher site.
